Rafael Neves

Rafael Neves, DVM, is an assistant professor in the department of veterinary clinical sciences at Purdue University. He earned his DVM in 2008 at Pontificia Universidade Catolica de Minas Gerais, Brazil and his masters at Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph in 2011 and his doctorate at Cornell University in 2017. His research at Purdue focuses on large-scale epidemiological studies and experimental projects to answer questions related to dairy cattle health and performance; Metabolic disorders during the peripartum of dairy cows with a greater emphasis on subclinical hypocalcemia has been the primary research focus and novel biomarkers for early identification of subclinical inflammatory states, precision medicine, and development and implementation of point-of-care instrumentation in livestock production and management.
