Zoey (Brooks) Nelson is a 6th generation dairy farmer on her family’s dairy in Waupaca, WI. She returned to the farm in 2015 after earning a degree in Animal Science from UW-Madison and serving as Wisconsin’s Alice in Dairyland. Zoey farms alongside her father, milking 600 Holsteins and farming 1,600 acres. She leads a team of 10 employees and is responsible for herd health, calf and heifer raising, and the farm’s bookwork.
Through open communication, the creation of detailed LLCs, and a vision for the dairy’s future, Brooks Farms has proactively planned for the future of their dairy by creating a transition plan that ensures they will leave a legacy, not a liability for future generations.
